Set up QuantityLock
Use this guide to get QuantityLock ready in your Shopify store. You will install the app, choose a plan, create your first product quantity limit, and confirm that your quantity rules and custom message work as expected.
Open the QuantityLock Shopify App Store listing and select Start free trial or Get started. If you manage more than one store, choose the correct Shopify store, review the app access screen, and click Install.After installation, QuantityLock opens in your Shopify admin. If you leave setup and want to return later, go to Apps in Shopify admin and select QuantityLock.During setup, select the plan that matches how many rules you need. Free Plan includes 1 x Product quantity limits and Custom validation messages. Standard includes a 14 day free trial, Unlimited Product quantity limits, and Custom validation messages.In QuantityLock, create your first product quantity limit for a product you want to control. Use Minimum Quantities if customers must buy at least a certain amount, or Maximum Quantities if you need to prevent large purchases or protect limited inventory.Set up your Custom validation messages so shoppers see a clear explanation if they try to add too few or too many items.Open the product on your storefront and try adding a quantity that breaks the rule. Confirm that QuantityLock blocks the invalid quantity and shows your custom validation message.Recommended first setup
If this is your first time using QuantityLock, start with one low-risk product and one simple rule.
- Use a Minimum Quantities rule if you sell in packs, cases, or wholesale quantities.
- Use a Maximum Quantities rule if you want to limit bulk buying or protect limited stock.
- Write a Custom validation message that tells shoppers exactly what quantity is allowed.
If you are using the Free Plan, use your single included Product quantity limits rule on the product where quantity control matters most.What to confirm before going live
- QuantityLock appears under Apps in Shopify admin.
- Your selected plan is active.
- At least one product quantity limit has been created.
- The rule matches your intended Minimum Quantities or Maximum Quantities.
- Your Custom validation messages clearly explain the restriction to shoppers.
- A storefront test confirms the rule works on the product page.

If you only want to validate your workflow before rolling out more rules, the Free Plan is enough to test one product and confirm the customer experience.Troubleshooting setup
In Shopify admin, open Apps and select QuantityLock. If it is not listed, return to the Shopify App Store listing and confirm the installation was completed.This is expected. Choose either Free Plan or Standard to continue into the app.Choose the Free Plan, create one product quantity limit, add your Custom validation messages, and test the result on that product before expanding to more of your catalog.Setup is complete when you can open QuantityLock from Apps, your plan is active, your first rule is saved, and your storefront test shows the quantity restriction working.
